"3D Digital Silk road" - The international scientific project has started at our institute.

The Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) awarded funding to the “3D Digital Silk Road” project. The project applicant is the Lublin University of Technology and Partners: 4 universities from Uzbekistan, National University of Uzbekistan (NUU), Samarkand State University (SamSU), Chirchik State Pedagogical Institute (CSPI), Urgench State University (USU).

The aim of the project is to carry out scientific and research work in the field of digitization of the cultural monuments of the Silk Road in Uzbekistan during scientific expeditions by LUT specialists in cooperation with partners from Uzbekistan and to disseminate research results through: international scientific conferences, practical training, monographs, and the silkroad3D.com online portal.

Main project tasks are the following:

Organization of 4 research expeditions to the 4 cities of Uzbekistan for 3D scanning of cultural monuments.

Processing of acquired data, preparation of digital panoramas and 3D models and placing them on the SilkRoad3D.com website.

Organization of the 2 international conferences (one in Poland, second in Uzbekistan).

Organization of 2 photographic exhibitions in Poland.

Training of scientific staff from Uzbekistan universities in the field of 3D technology applications in museology (2 trainings in Poland).

Preparation and publication of a joint scientific monograph in Poland.

Maintenance and development of the SilkRoad3D.com portal in three languages: English, Uzbek and Russian.
