About the Faculty of Philology

The Faculty of Philology was first established in 1935 under the name of the Faculty of Uzbek Language and Literature on the basis of the Khorezm Teacher Training Institute. In recent years, the name of the faculty is Philology (until 2011), Philology and Art (until 2015), Philology (on the basis of Foreign Philology until 2019) and again as the Faculty of Philology.
Educational directions within the faculty:
philology and language teaching (Uzbek language)
philology and language teaching (Russian language)
native language and literature (Russian language and literature in foreign language groups)
applied philology
Departments of the faculty:
Uzbek linguistics
Uzbek literature
Russian language and literature
The number of professors and teachers with scientific potential in the departments is the majority. prof.H.Abdullayev, prof.S.Rozimboyev, prof.Z.Dosimov each supervised more than ten professors and teachers who had the scientific degrees of candidate of science, PhD, doctor of science. 10.00.01 on the specialties of the faculty's departments. - Uzbek language and 10.00.06. - Senior research fellows and independent researchers from Russian language fields are engaged in scientific activity.
On the initiative of the faculty, the "Poetry podium", "Kitobkhan student" auditions, as well as "Young speakers, "Navoiykhan student" projects are regularly operating at the university level.
