May 9 is a national holiday in our country - the Day of Memory and Honor, honoring every participant of the Second World War, and veterans of the frontline, further strengthening the atmosphere of kindness, solidarity, humanity, tolerance, and generosity in our country. It has become a tradition to raise the younger generation in the spirit of devotion to our national traditions and respect for universal values, as well as to celebrate this sacred holiday at a high level.

In this regard, a festive event was held today at Urgench State University. It was attended by professors, students, and honored guests of UrSU.

The event was opened by the First Vice-Rector for Youth Affairs and Spiritual and educational Work of UrSU Sanjar Davletov, who congratulated all those present on the upcoming holiday and spoke about the fact that May 9 is widely celebrated in our country as a national holiday.

Retired Lieutenant Colonel Norboy Masharipov, Chairman of the Urgench Veterans Council, spoke at the event about the difficult days, the resilience of our ancestors, the memory of the past, respect for the elderly, and the value of our peace. The event featured a variety of performances, poems, and songs prepared by university students. At the end of the event, the participants of the Afghan war, who have been working at the university for many years, were presented with gifts from the Trade Union Committee.
