Collaborative action research between Urgench State University, Uzbekistan and University of Warwick, United Kingdom (Corpus linguistics)

Davron Abdullaev from the department of Languages for specific purposes at Urgench state university is currently participating in a collaborative action research study with a PhD researcher, Komila Tangirova, from the University of Warwick, UK. The project is aimed at developing ESP (English for Specific Purposes) teaching materials by using self-developed specialized corpus.  Collaborative action research between Urgench State University, Uzbekistan and University of Warwick, United Kingdom (Corpus linguistics) arni ixtisoslashgan korpus ishlab chiqish Davron and Komila have already built a specialized corpus which Davron is now using for creating teaching materials for his students of Food technology, group number 193. Up until now he has given several presentations to Uzbekistan ESP teacher colleagues from across Uzbekistan about the stages of building his own corpus and developing his own teaching materials. Started in July, 2020 this project has now reached the end of the first cycle and two more cycles are planned for spring and autumn of this year. This project is supervised by Dr. Sue Wharton an associate professor at the department of Applied Linguistics, Warwick University, UK. Through this research project, Davron built up a professional cooperation with the content teachers at the university where he works. Therefore, there has been a myriad advantage he managed to gain from taking part in this project.
