Today, on December 3, a regular scientific and theoretical seminar was held at the Department of Romano-Germanic Philology of the Faculty of Foreign Philology at Abu Rayhan Beruni Urgench State University.
At the seminar, presentations were delivered by PhD, Acting Associate Professor Rayhon Bobojonovna Sapayeva on the topic “The Representation of Socio-Political Vocabulary in the German Translation of the ‘Baburnama’,” as well as by second-year master’s student Muazzam Kodirberganova on the topic “Les particularités et les analyses sémantiques des locutions phraséologiques avec the verb ‘faire’.”
The presentation analyzed the process of translating into German the socio-political terms characteristic of the historical period reflected in the Baburnama, including titles and positions related to governance, as well as vocabulary associated with court and military administration. Translation strategies such as transliteration, explanatory translation, and cultural adaptation were discussed on a scholarly basis.
During the seminar, participants raised questions concerning the adequate rendering of cultural elements in translation, the preservation of the spirit of the historical text, and the correct interpretation of linguocultural meanings.
