The Faculty of Foreign Philology was established in February 2019 on the basis of the former faculties “World Languages” ​​(until 2010), “Foreign Languages” ​​(until 2015) and “Philology and Arts” (until 2015) faculties. The faculty today is headed by docent Z. Jumaniyazov today.

Today, the faculty has more than 150 professors and about 3,000 students.

The following departments operate under the faculty:

• English language and literature;

• Romano-Germanic philology;

• Translation theory and practice;

• Interfuculty department of foreign languages.

There are 6 education spheres – Philology and language teaching: English, Philology and language teaching: German, Philology and language teaching: French, Foreign language and literature: English (based on Uzbek and Russian languages ​​of instruction), Translation Theory and Practice (2019), Guide and Translation Activities (2019) in which bachelors are prepared and Linguistics: English and Linguistics: German (2019) in which masters are prepared.

The scientific potential of the faculty today is 17%, including 1 doctor of sciences, 21 candidates of sciences and PhDs among the members of the faculty.

The faculty has done a lot of work on international cooperation and scientific relations with foreign countries. These include the British Council, KOIKA, Hugo Cultural Center, University of Norwich, Max Planck Institute, University of Mainz, DAAD, Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Goethe Institute and Galle institute. There are scientific and pedagogical cooperation with the University, Erasmus Mundus, the Embassy of India, Zaporozhe National University and other organizations. On the basis of cooperation agreements signed with these organizations, the faculty has a number of foreign specialists. Among them were U.S. volunteer Andrew Howard, Rebecca Martin, Peter Barsum (2015-206), Korean volunteer Joe Juheon, Che Hyun Rak (2014-2015), German Jurgen Asmus, Hans Passman (2017-2018). In the 2018-2019 academic year, American volunteer Mina Gavel, Korean volunteer Lim Jongmyung, German experts Wilhelm Rotman worked on German, Helga Lefelman on French. In particular, in the current 2021-2022 academic year, professors of Zaporozhe National University Derevianko Yulia Yuryevna, Tretyak Yulia Nikolaevna, Zahra Zarrati and Estella Eaton are conducting lectures and practical classes at the faculty on existing cooperation agreements within the English Fellow Program.

Another noteworthy work in cooperation with foreign countries is the translation into Uzbek of a two-volume book "Landwirt", aimed at improving the basic and professional knowledge of farmers and colleges specializing in agriculture in Germany in 2012-2014. A joint project with the University of Weihen Stefan in Germany and the Volkswagen Foundation has been implemented.

From 2009 to present, under the guidance of Masharipova Feruza, a teacher of English language and literature department, UrSU has awarded a grant for pedagogical assistance to schoolchildren, students of academic lyceums and professional colleges under the American program "Access Microproject". and operated until 2017, while the American STEM project operated under the faculty until 2018-2021.

The members of the faculty participated to improve their skills in prestigious universities in the United States, England, Germany, France, Belgium, Russia, Kazakhstan, India, China, Korea, and Malaysia.

Cooperation agreements have also been signed with higher education institutions of the Republic – Uzbekistan State World Languages University, National University of Uzbekistan, Andijan State University, Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages, Bukhara State University, Karakalpak State University. The organization of scientific seminars, conferences, publication of textbooks, dictionaries, student exchanges and other similar activities are carried out.

In the last 5 years, faculty members have published more than 1,000 scientific-theoretical and methodological articles in foreign, national and higher education, more than 50 textbooks, teaching aids and teaching aids.
