Official Statement

Today, information has been circulated on some social media platforms claiming that one of the officials of Urgench State University is requiring students to wear a uniform.

In this regard, Urgench State University would like to state the following:

First and foremost, no mandatory uniform has been introduced for students at the university, and no requirement to wear a uniform has been imposed. The university has always respected the personal choices, preferences, and freedom of its students.

At the same time, the university considers it important to promote cleanliness, neatness, aesthetic awareness, and a respectable appearance within the university environment. After all, students are, first and foremost, the face of the university. Their knowledge, manners, communication skills, and appearance also reflect the overall environment and culture of the educational institution.

Therefore, students are generally provided with recommendations regarding maintaining an appearance appropriate for an educational institution, dressing in a modern, neat, and presentable manner, and conducting themselves appropriately. These are recommendations only and are not mandatory requirements.

Therefore, the claim that the university has introduced a requirement that “wearing a uniform is mandatory” is not true. The choice remains with our students, while the recommendations are intended to promote culture and aesthetic awareness.

The circulated reports also refer to an audio recording allegedly made by one of the university officials. Even if such an audio recording of an employee exists, it would be incorrect to interpret it as the official position of the university. The personal verbal opinion or instruction of an individual employee does not constitute an official decision of the university and does not represent its general policy.
