Education system reform in Khorezm discussed based on priority tasks set by the President


On May 3, 2025, the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Kungirotboy Sharipov held an expanded meeting at Urgench State University with the participation of heads of higher and vocational education institutions in the Khorezm region and representatives of the territorial department of the ministry.

This meeting was organized within the framework of ensuring the implementation of priority tasks put forward by our President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his visit to the Khorezm region. At a meeting on the socio-economic development of the Khorezm region, the Head of our state gave important instructions on reforming the higher and vocational education sector, introducing modern and practical approaches to personnel training, and expanding educational programs in line with international standards.

Special attention was paid to these issues at the meeting. In particular, priority areas such as the role of the education system in regional development, strengthening the professional training of youngsters, training personnel in line with the real needs of the labor market, wide implementation of dual education, increasing the share of practical training, and the creation of special groups aimed at in-depth teaching of foreign languages were critically analyzed and discussed.

In particular, in accordance with the President's instructions, practical measures were determined to train at least 100 guides and service staff per year in foreign languages that are in high demand, such as Chinese, Arabic, Japanese, and Spanish, at the Khiva Tourism College.

Minister K.Sharipov also emphasized the need to direct research work in higher educational institutions in the region in accordance with the socio-economic development strategy of the Khorezm region, integrate science with practice, attract foreign investors, and expand international cooperation.

The Minister gave specific instructions to strengthen the systematic approach in educational institutions, study advanced foreign experiences and adapt them to local conditions.
