AWARENESS IS THE NEED OF THE TIME

Today, on February 8, a meeting was organized at Urgench State University on the urgent tasks of protecting young people from the ideas of religious fanaticism and extremism propagated through social networks.

The head of the Department of the Committee on Religious Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan N.Shomirzayev, the first vice-rector of UrSU D.Ibadullayev, Rector's adviser R.Sharipov, deputy deans for working with youth and students from all faculties participated in this meeting.

The meeting was opened by the first vice-rector of UrSU, D.Ibadullayev, with the initiatives of the leader of our state in recent years, discussed a wide range of issues related to ensuring the religious rights and freedoms of citizens, instilling the ideas of religious tolerance in the society, restoring and developing our religious and national values. It was mentioned that important works are being carried out.

At the event, the Head of the Department of the Committee on Religious Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, N.Shomirzayev, said that international terrorist and religious extremist organizations are currently witnessing the escalation of armed conflicts and conflicts in various regions of the world, in such dangerous conflicts, noting that they are trying to fill their ranks with young people in order to coordinate terrorist activities using modern information and communication technologies, i.e. the Internet, social networks and other electronic mobile means, in order to continue their participation and expand the sphere of influence, he called students for awareness.

For information, as of today, there are more than 10,000 religious extremist and terrorist websites. Also, the number of channels on social networks and messengers, such as "Facebook", "Twitter", "Instagram", "VKontakte", "Odnoklassniki", "Telegram" has exceeded 100 thousand.

At the end of the event, a live video on the topic was shown. Also, students addressed their questions and comments and received appropriate answers from experts.
