The Uzbek Language – a Measure of National Thought and Development


On October 21, in the conference hall of the new Information Resource Center of Urgench State University named after Abu Rayhon Biruni, a scientific-practical conference was held at the initiative of the Faculty of Philology and Arts, dedicated to the 36th anniversary of granting the Uzbek language the status of a state language. The event was titled “The Role of the Uzbek Language in National Thought and State Development, and Prospects for its Advancement.”

At the opening of the conference, the Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs and Innovations of Urgench State University, Z.Ibragimov, and the Dean of the Faculty of Philology and Arts, D.G‘ayipov, delivered speeches emphasizing the priceless importance of the native language in national unity and collective consciousness.

The conference featured presentations by Doctors of Philology, Professors D. G‘ayipov, A.Primov, D.Yuldashev, Sh.Norboyeva, as well as Candidates of Philology, Associate Professors Sh. Aqmanova, Sh.Alimova, and X.Boymurotova. Teachers and researchers D.Sultonova and M.Atabayeva also participated with their reports.

Speakers discussed in depth the role of the Uzbek language in national thought, culture, science, and social development, the prospects of language policy, and the ongoing research in areas such as dialectology, lexicology, onomastics, and linguoculturology.

During the event, the stages of the Uzbek language’s development, modern trends in enriching the language, and its role as a key factor expressing national identity were thoroughly examined.

This scientific meeting once again confirmed that the Uzbek language is not only a means of communication but also a fundamental element of national thought, spiritual heritage, and state development.
