Discussion of the draft for the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On additional measures to further improve the education system of the country, accelerate the development of science"


The draft for the Presidential Decree on further improvement of the education system and the development of science is currently being discussed and proposals are being made. On October 26, 2020, a new draft decree was discussed at Urgench State University. The seminar, which was held online through the ZOOM program, was attended by staff of the Department of Youth Affairs, Spirituality and Enlightenment, university professors, deputy deans for youth affairs of the faculties. Speaking at the seminar, S. Davletov, Vice-Rector for Youth Affairs of UrSU, spoke about the content of the decree. Acceptance in accordance with the standards of the association, empowering universities that occupy one of the top 10 places in the national rankings to independently award academic titles in existing specialties, establishing at least one HEI in each region by September 1, 2021 on the basis of non-governmental, including public-private partnerships are among the proposed changes in the education system. He noted that from the 2021/2022 academic year, in accordance with the decision of higher education institutions, the issues of teaching on the basis of a modular system of non-specialty subjects will play an important role in further improving the higher education system. At the event, a number of experts also expressed their views on the new draft decree and put forward a number of proposals.
