Meeting of the President of Germany with professors and students of our university

On May 29 at 12.20 p.m. at the Center for Spirituality and Enlightenment of Khorezm region the President of the Federal Republic Frank Walter Steinmeier and his wife Elke Budenbeger met with the Governor of Khorezm F. Ermonov, Minister of Foreign Affairs A. Komilov, Rector of Urgench State University B. Abdullaev, Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Philology Z. Zhumaniyazov, Professor of the University A. Zhumaniyazov and German language teacher of the Urgench State University of Academic Lyceum N. Nurullayeva were held in a narrow format.

At the beginning of the meeting, the President of Germany asked the participants to provide information about the region and the university. Mayor F. Ermonov made a speech and introduced the participants. He briefly told about Khorezm region and passed the information to the rector of the university B.Abdullaev. B.Abdullaev told about the structure of the university, faculties, directions of education, specializations, international projects, work with German universities, prospects of plans and foreign students. Then Professor A.Zhumaniyazov thanked the guests for the visit and briefly told about German education. N. Nurullayeva, a teacher at the Lyceum, spoke about the work of the Future Partners project in the region and the successes achieved by Steinmeier.

After a 15-minute meeting the honored guests held a live talk show with 80 teachers, students and 40 lyceums and schoolchildren of Urgench State University. The round table lasted about 1 hour and 10 minutes. The event was attended by the head of the German DAAD, Prof. Strosnyder, director of the German Research Center, Prof. Wintermantels also actively participated.

Guests of honour, including the President and his wife, gave detailed answers to their questions and shared their thoughts on issues of concern to them. The most important thing for President Steinmeier was that students and pupils were learning German, which was in the interest of the language. And he asked almost every student who spoke the word. At the round table, there was interest in the President's personal and family life, in addition to social issues related to German and Uzbek youth, such as science, education, tourism, ecology, medicine, literature and translation, sports and career guidance.

During the round table they expressed satisfaction with the language skills of the students, and at the end of the event President Steinmeier expressed gratitude to all students. The event was followed by a solemn ceremony with the president, his wife, professors, and teachers. After that, the guests were very pleased to leave the magnificent conference hall of the region.

The conversations were filled with intense fervor and lofty motives at the highest level.
