A press conference was held on "New reforms in the field: Commentary to the Presidential Decree "On measures to provide financial independence to public higher education institutions"
As you know, yesterday President Sh. Mirziyoyev signed two important documents aimed at further reforming the higher education sector. These are the resolutions "On measures to provide financial independence to public higher education institutions" and "On additional measures to ensure the academic and organizational independence of public higher education institutions."
Today, on December 25, 2021, a press conference was held at Urgench State University to inform the university students and the general public about the content of these decisions.
The press conference was attended by the rector of the university Bakhrom Abdullayev, which was attended by members of the regional media, journalists and bloggers, university students.
During the conference rector Bakhrom Abdullayev gave detailed information about the essence and content of the resolutions of the president of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On measures to provide financial independence to public higher education institutions" and "On additional measures to ensure the academic and organizational independence of public higher education institutions."
In particular, he explained that from January 1, 2022, the powers of 35 leading state higher education institutions will determine the cost of studying tuition fee basis, taking into account the demand in the market of educational services, set and extend payment deadlines for students, allocate scholarships and grants for students at their own expense, that the decision defined 10 powers of supervisory boards to be established in state higher education institutions that have been granted financial independence, and that higher education institutions that have been granted financial independence have a number of privileges.
Information was also provided on the future goals and plans of Urgench State University and the facilities that will be created for students.
