According to the Presidential Decree No. PF-5847 “Concept of development of the higher education system of the Republic of Uzbekistan until 2030" is approved on October 8, 2019.  Strategic goals and priorities for the development of the higher education system have been identified.

According to the concept, a number of universities will be included in the list of the top 1,000 higher education institutions in the ranking of internationally recognized organizations, and the issue of preparing universities for international recognition raised. Priority given to including at least 10 higher education institutions in the country in the list of the top 1,000 higher education institutions in the internationally recognized organizations (Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings, Times Higher Education or Academic Ranking of World Universities).

Urgench State University is one of the top 10 universities mentioned above. Dedicated to systematic plans on the inclusion of Urgench State University in the ranking of 1000, the department of "International Ratings" established at the university. This department works in collaboration with the faculties to monitor and improve the indicators that provide access to international rankings. The University maintains profiles on the Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings, Times Higher Education or Academic Ranking of World Universities portals and enriches them with the necessary information. At the same time, to bring the University's performance in line with the requirements of international rating agencies and to further improve and control the regular publication of articles in journals indexed on high-impact platforms Scopus, Nature, Web of Science platforms by professors, researchers and to participate in international collaborations to collect or measure data for the SDGs - is one of the priorities of the department.
