Meeting of Urganch State University management with members of South Korea's Soonchunhyang University delegation

Today, a meeting of the management of Urganch State University was held with members of the delegation of South Korea's Soonchunhyang University, including the head of the Global Education and Exchange Department, Dr. Byung Wook Yoo, the head of the "Korean Studies and Korean Language" education project in Samarkand, Mr. Inyoung Yoo, International Relations Specialist Ms.Suejung Lee.

At the meeting, S. Khodjaniyozov, vice-rector for academic affairs of UrSU, G. Orazboyev, vice-rector for international cooperation, Z. Ibragimov, vice-rector for research and innovations, Z. Jumaniyozov, dean of the faculty of foreign philology, project leader, head of the "English language and literature" department, J. Ermetovalar participated.

Initially, the parties exchanged information about the current activities of both universities and got to know each other.

Representatives of UrSU spoke about existing relations with a number of Korean higher education institutions and expressed their desire to reach promising agreements with Soonchunhyang University.

It should be noted that the teaching of Korean as a foreign language at Urganch State University began in 2006. Year by year, students' interest in Korean language and culture is increasing. Therefore, in the academic year 2023-2024, the educational direction "Philology and language teaching (Korean language)" was opened. Currently, 25 students are studying in this direction.

At the meeting, UrSU expressed its desire to expand this direction and invited teachers from Soonchunhyang University who teach Korean language and culture to work. Also, mutually beneficial proposals were made regarding the exchange of bachelor and master students, sending professors and teachers on short-term internships, organizing joint educational programs, scientific research and educational work.

In turn, the representatives of Soonchunhyang University warmly welcomed the proposals for strengthening these cooperation relations and expressed their readiness to cooperate in any areas of education.

After that, the parties gave each other symbolic souvenirs of the universities.
