Rector’s Address

Address of the Acting Rector of Urgench State University named after Abu Rayhon Biruni to youth, parents, and educators, aimed at raising awareness about the harmful consequences of drug addiction and drug-related crime

Dear youth, respected parents, esteemed teachers!

In today’s rapidly changing and complex world, protecting the hearts, minds, and future of our children is our highest duty. A child is the most precious gift, the most invaluable treasure for any person. Therefore, every parent cherishes their child like the apple of their eye and is always ready to protect them from any danger. Spiritually mature and conscientious young people strive to live in a way that honors this parental love.

Unfortunately, many dangers and vices threaten our youth today. Among the most severe of these are the scourges of drug addiction and drug-related crime. Sometimes young people, unaware of the consequences, sometimes in pursuit of a momentary “pleasure,” and sometimes hoping to earn easy money, become involved in such activities, putting at risk their own lives and the future of their families and society.

We cannot remain indifferent to this!
Protecting our children from this disaster is the responsibility of each of us, every family, every educator, and our entire society.

Dear youth!
Your sound thinking, strong will, and thirst for knowledge are the future of Uzbekistan, the foundation of our development. Never fall for the misguided thought, “I will try it just once.” Remember that narcotic substances are poison that destroys human life — a vice that steals dreams and aspirations. This path never leads to anything good.

Dear parents!
Today, more than ever, it is important to pay close attention to our children — their daily condition, mood, and circle of friends. Through open communication, care, and trust, we can guide them and prevent them from going astray. Let us strengthen their spiritual immunity — then they will not fall into harmful habits.

Esteemed teachers!
Your role in educating the younger generation is priceless. Promoting a healthy lifestyle in the educational process and ensuring that young people understand the harmful consequences of drug use is the requirement of today. Every lesson you teach, every conversation, and every educational activity fosters responsibility, vigilance, and strong moral conviction in their hearts.

Dear compatriots!
Today we need to unite, to come together, and take responsibility in addressing an issue that determines the future of our society. Let us be uncompromising toward drug-related crime, support the work of law enforcement agencies, and make awareness and vigilance guiding principles of our lives.

Remember:
The peaceful, healthy, and prosperous future of Uzbekistan depends on our unity, vigilance, and firm stance today.

Khodjaniyazov Sardor Umarovich
