Ogahiy’s Legacy — a Source of National Spirituality and Scientific Thought

Today, at Urgench State University named after Abu Rayhan Biruni, the Faculty of Philology and Arts organized a scientific-practical conference on “Current Issues in Studying Ogahiy’s Works”, dedicated to the 216th anniversary of the birth of Muhammad Rizo Erniyozbekovich Ogahiy, a prominent representative of 19th-century Uzbek literature and historiography, poet, and translator. The conference was devoted to a deep study of the invaluable literary and scholarly heritage of the great poet, historian, and thinker, as well as the analysis of ideological, artistic, linguistic, and cultural aspects reflected in his works.

Leading scholars in the field of philology presented their reports. The Dean of the Faculty of Philology and Arts, Doctor of Philology, Professor D.Ghayipov, in his report “Ideological and Artistic Features of Ogahiy’s Shohbaits”, highlighted the poet’s philosophical views and artistic mastery. The Head of the Department of Uzbek Linguistics, Doctor of Philology, Professor A.Primov, in his report “The Historical and Cultural Significance of Lexical-Semantic Units Specific to the Khorezm Region in the Language of the Work ‘Firdavs ul-Iqbol’”, focused on the role of the work’s language in reflecting regional and cultural values.

Additionally, the following scholars presented their research: Doctor of Philology, Associate Professor M.Pirnazarova — “Ogahiy’s Traditions in Omon Matjon’s Works”; Associate Professor of Uzbek Linguistics Sh.Aqmanova — “On the Hydronyms Used in Ogahiy’s Works”; and Lecturer of Uzbek Linguistics, PhD H.Boymurotova — “Linguocultural Features of Certain Notable Names in ‘Firdavs ul-Iqbol’”.

The conference played an important role in studying Ogahiy’s works using modern scientific approaches, fostering young researchers’ interest in the heritage of great ancestors, and deepening the understanding of the rich treasury of national literature.

Following the conference, a significant cultural and literary event took place — awarding the winners of competitions in essays, video-audio poetry, and the “Best Drawings” category.
