Today, Urgench State University was visited by representatives of South Korea’s KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency), as well as Deputy Director of the organization Kim Siyeon. The guests were received by university rector Feruza Madrahimova.
During the official meeting, the rector spoke about the effective cooperation established between Urgench State University and prestigious higher education institutions of South Korea. It was especially noted that, within the framework of the KOICA program, volunteer teachers have been working at the university for many years, providing students with quality education in the Korean language and culture.
KOICA Deputy Director Kim Siyeon presented proposals for further developing cooperation. In particular, the meeting discussed the possibility of launching at Urgench State University a Korean language teaching project based on the capabilities of artificial intelligence, which is currently being successfully implemented in a number of higher education institutions in Uzbekistan. It was also announced that from the new 2026/2027 academic year, a KOICA volunteer teacher is planned to be sent to the university for a period of one year.
Following the official meeting, the guests became closely acquainted with the activities of the Korean studies center operating at the Faculty of foreign philology of Urgench State University, as well as with the activities of the Information resource center.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to further strengthen cooperation in the fields of education, scientific collaboration and academic exchange, expand joint projects, and jointly implement promising initiatives.
