Today, in the second half of the day, Feruza Madrahimova, Rector of Urgench State University named after Abu Rayhan Biruni, met with the staff of the Faculty of Sports Activities.
At the beginning of the meeting, Oktam Matnazarov, Dean of the Faculty, presented a report on the work carried out, the results achieved during the 2025/2026 academic year, as well as the priority tasks planned for the 2026/2027 academic year.
During the meeting, particular attention was paid to ensuring the broad involvement of university students in sports, their active participation in international and national sports competitions, and providing worthy incentives for winners and prize-winners.
It was also identified as an important task to create the necessary conditions for talented athletes to achieve high results, perform successfully on the international stage, and expand the number of world champions among university students.
In this regard, the meeting discussed the effective use of the facilities of the recently constructed 370-seat sports complex and stadium, as well as the building of the Faculty of Sports Activities, which has been reconstructed and equipped with modern facilities.
The meeting particularly noted that the university’s students had taken second place in the “Students of New Uzbekistan” competition. Relevant tasks were set to further consolidate these achievements and ensure thorough preparation for sports competitions held within the framework of the “Olympiad of Five Initiatives.”
The meeting also addressed issues related to sending professors and teachers abroad for internships, involving international professors, teachers and students in the educational process, and integrating advanced educational programmes of prestigious foreign higher education institutions ranked among the TOP-300 into the educational process.
At the same time, special attention was paid to increasing the scientific potential of the departments, supporting the research activities of professors and teachers, establishing scientific schools, and integrating sports with science, as well as developing modern textbooks and teaching materials.
At the conclusion of the meeting, responsible officials were given specific instructions and tasks aimed at further improving the Faculty’s activities in the fields of education, science and sports, making effective use of existing opportunities, and ensuring the high-quality implementation of the assigned tasks.
