Scientific-methodological seminar on the topic of melons of Uzbekistan and their varieties by Sadullayev Sanjar, head of the Department of Fruit and Vegetables, Urganch State University

S. Sadullayev gave a lecture on "Melons of Uzbekistan and their varieties".Most of the melon varieties grown in Uzbekistan are characterized by low environmental adaptability, which is helped by the presence of melon breeding centers with a unique cultivation technology and a unique assortment of melons. is a plant, its roots can penetrate up to 1 m deep, but the main lateral roots grow in a 20-25 cm tillage layer of the soil. The stems are thin and long, and the length of the main stem is up to 1.5-2 m.
Soil moisture for melon needs to be 65-70% compared to field moisture capacity. Melon is not very demanding on the type of soil, it can grow in soils that are not suitable for growing some other crops. But it grows well on fertile, mechanical soil with light soil and gives a high yield. Melon fruits are used as a medicine for kidney, stomach, liver, nervous, cardiovascular diseases, bronchitis, tuberculosis, gout and anemia. Tinctures of melon seeds are used in the treatment of cough and skin diseases.
One of our main tasks is to leave the melon varieties created by our people and cultivated to this day to the next generation, to preserve the gene pool, and to select the exportable varieties that are in demand of the time, and to allocate the initial sources for selection based on them.   In this way, the professors and teachers of the department asked the speaker and the student with the questions they were interested in, and the seminar was full of questions and in an upbeat spirit.
