urdu.uz, URGANCH DAVLAT UNIVERSITETI REKTORINING 21-OKTABR – “OʻZBEK TILI BAYRAMI KUNI” MUNOSABATI BILAN BAYRAM TABRIGI

Hello, dear compatriots!

Honorable  teachers!

Dear students!
First of all, I would like to sincerely congratulate all of you on October 21 - the "Day of the Uzbek language", the 32nd anniversary of the granting of the status of the state language to the Uzbek language.
Indeed, October 21 is a significant date for the Uzbek nation. 32 years ago, on this day, our people achieved their great dream of a millennium.
On the same day, the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On the State Language" was adopted. The Uzbek language was given the status of the state language. It was the boldest step towards our independence. The adoption of this law has not been easy. It should be noted that the granting of the status of the state language to the Uzbek language was one of the important steps of our people towards national independence.
The status of the Uzbek language as the state language raised the spirit of our people. It has increased the international reputation of the Uzbek language. In the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan the status of the state language is strengthened from the legal point of view. The law "On the state language", along with a full manifestation of the beauty and charm of our native language, has created wide opportunities for its development on a scientific basis.          Scholars and experts have published encyclopedias and dictionaries, textbooks and manuals in various fields of science. A five-volume "Explanatory Dictionary of the Uzbek language" has been created, which includes examples of our classical literature, terms related to science, technology, industry, culture and other areas, as well as words used in dialects.
Over the years, the Uzbek language has become the language of kindness that unites more than a hundred nationalities and ethnic groups in our country.
Today, the role of the Uzbek language, which is considered the native language of more than 40 million people in the world, is increasing day by day. This is the charm and sound of the language, the immortal literary works created in it have their own position and place in the world. It is also the duty of each of us to enhance the prestige of our native language, to preserve and develop it in its original form.
Today, our native Uzbekistan is taking a bold step to a new stage of its development on the basis of the priority idea "From national revival to national progress." Along with all spheres, a large-scale work is being done to increase the role and prestige of the state language in society. In particular, on October 21, 2019, the President adopted a Decree "On measures to radically increase the prestige and status of the Uzbek language as the state language." According to him, October 21 is marked in our country as the "Day of the Uzbek language." The decree also stipulates the establishment of a special structure for the development of the state language under the Cabinet of Ministers, among other issues related to the further development of our native language. This structure ensures the observance of the legislation on the state language, the analysis of problems in the field and the implementation of a unified state policy in this regard.
In this regard, we should understand that our President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that "whoever wants to feel the fascination, charm and power of influence, unlimited possibilities of the Uzbek language, let him hear the Lullabies of our mothers, our millennial epics, our immortal maqoms, let him listen to the magical songs of our Bakhshi and Hafiz", the language is the core of the culture of custom, each of us must deeply understand that it is a fundamental tool that keeps its traditions, and we must approach it with deep respect in raising the international prestige of our native language and adding it to the ranks of developed languages on the basis of national and universal concepts. This is our task and duty for the future. Because without language, no nation can be a whole people. Without it there is no freedom of the motherland. We believe that the attention of our President and the instructions given by him to celebrate this anniversary at the highest level will further enhance the prestige and importance of the Uzbek language.
May all of us be blessed with the holiday of the Uzbek language, the national holiday.
Dr. Sc. (Phys.-Math.) Bakhram Abdullayev
