The Interfaculty Department of Foreign Languages was established in 2000 as part of the Faculty of World Languages at Urgench State University under the name "Interfaculty Foreign Languages." The department was headed by PhD U.S. Sotimov. The department specialized in teaching French, German, English, and Russian to students from various faculties. Over the years, the faculty members of the department published scientific articles, textbooks, methodological materials, monographs, and conducted scientific research. The department's professors became winners of grants founded by the first President and went abroad for professional development. In January 2011, the department's activities were concluded, and the faculty members were transferred to specialized departments.
