Since the department mainly teaches specialized subjects in English, cooperation relations are consistently developing, including with the British Embassy in Uzbekistan, the British Council, Cambridge, and the universities of East Anglia; Partnerships have been established with the US Embassy in Uzbekistan, TESOL, RELO,ACCESS, South Korean KOICA programs and the Korean Educational Center in Tashkent.
On the initiative of J. Ermetova, international relations with Korea were established, and a “Korean Language Center” was opened at the department together with the teacher of the KOICA program Lyudmila Konstantinovna in 2006. Lee Jing Hwa, the first volunteer teacher in 2007, taught students Korean as a second foreign language until 2009. As part of international relations between Uzbekistan and India, the “Study of India” center of the Faculty of Foreign Philology began its activity in March 2021 in collaboration with the Indian Embassy in Tashkent and the Lal Bahadur Shastri Cultural Center. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Uzbekistan, director of the cultural center Manish Prabhat visited the university and made plans for further work.
In 2021-2022, international cooperation was established between Urgench State University and the University of Kebangsaan Malaysia to improve subjects in the TESOL program, create joint programs and organize educational processes using the credit-module system. RELATIONS WITH SOUTH KOREA
In order to effectively continue teaching the Korean language at Urgench State University, he established cooperation with the Korean Educational Center in Tashkent.
This center has done a lot of work to develop the Korean language in Uzbekistan. In 2016, the head of the Korean Educational Center, Kim Beom-soo, directly visited Urganch State University, and as a result of this cooperation, the educational center at the university conducts international TOPIK exams.
This international exam is held 5 times a year, and all necessary conditions have been created for the youth of Khorezm.
In 2009, under the leadership of Feruza Masharipova, a grant project from the US ASSESS Microproject program was won in the amount of $55,000; on this basis, methodological support was provided for teaching English to teachers and students of schools, academic lyceums, and vocational schools. colleges.
In the 2010-2012 academic year, the PRESETT program project was carried out by qualified teachers Ermetova J., Atadzhanova S., Bakhodirova F. and Saparboeva G. in pilot groups of USU, the project was completed in pilot-test groups in 2012, and since 2013 in the department included: Enrollment of students for undergraduate courses “Foreign language and literature: English” and “Philology and language teaching: English” has begun. The department has created a library based on textbooks and teaching aids donated by the British Council and the US Embassies to students of the Department of English Language and Literature. Foreign volunteer teachers Rebecca Martin, Peter Barsum, Ingrid Johnson, Mina Govell regularly conducted practical classes. Ermetova took part in a competition announced by the SEED program of the South Korean Academy of Korean Studies and won a grant in the amount of $132,000 (1.5 billion) for the project “Korean Studies and Language Education (Korean Language).” In the 2023-2024 academic year, the undergraduate course “Philology and Language Teaching (Korean Language)” was opened at Urgench State University.
