History of the English Language and Literature Department

The Faculty of Philology is established on August 28, 2015 on the basis of former World Languages (until 2010), Foreign Languages (2015) and Philology and Arts (2015). There are more than 35 professor-teachers in the department, 744 students are currently studying.
• There are in English Language and Literature, 2 specializations: Philology and Language Teaching: (English Language): Foreign Language and Literature: English 1 Specialization (Linguistics: English) bachelors and masters are being prepared. A lot of things has been done on international cooperation and scientific contacts with foreign countries such as: scientific and pedagogical cooperation with the USA, UK, British Council, KOICA, Norwich University, Erasmus Mundus, Embassy of India and other organizations. From 2009 to the present day teacher of the English Language and Literature Department Masharipova Feruza has been awarded with US $ 55 thousand for educational support of the American Access Microproject program for students of schools, academic lyceums and professional colleges.
• The volunteers, including foreign volunteers, signed cooperation memorandums with world-renowned universities, 2015-2016 academic year, US Volunteer Rebecca Martin, English language students, Korean volunteer Hyonchol Ju, Korean language course and today, another volunteer of the U.S. Embassy, Peter Barsum and Koyka volunteer, Che Han Rak, are conducting a practical training for students of English Language and Literature Department .This will result in better and more effective training.
Professors and lecturers of the department have improved their skills in prestigious universities of the developed countries, such as USA, England, Germany, France, Belgium, India, China, Korea, Malaysia. Over the last 10 years more than 100 scientific and methodical articles have been published by the faculty of the faculty in foreign, republican and higher educational institutions, more than 20 educational and methodical manuals. Professors and teachers of the department took part in the conference devoted to the problems of the International Aral Sea on November 28-30, 2014, the parliamentary elections on December 21, 2014, meetings with representatives of the World Bank in June 2015 and the International Festival of dance in 2017 and the Silk Road as well as volunteer translators in several international events such as the International Tourism Fair and Tourism Development Forum.
. As a result of the effective work of the teachers of the faculty, the students have gained some successes and continue to gain the achievements. Atamuradov Dilshod, Sarvinoz Umarova and Polvonova Nafisa’s research and accomplishments are estimated by the state and were awarded with the state order named after Navoi. It is especially pleasant to note that the literary works, translated from English into Uzbek and from English into English, are highly appreciated by the Uzbek Writers Association.
In 2018-2019 it is planned to open a new translation direction at the Philological Faculty. The opening of this new trend will further enhance the reputation of the faculty at a national level.
